OPC Historian .NET Client Development Component

Version Info

OPC DA Compliant

You can develop OPC Historical Data Access (HDA) clients in .NET (C# or VB.NET) without having to think about the OPC DCOM interface. The OPCHDA.NET wrapper assembly provides classes and methods that take advantage of the .NET features and make OPC HDA Server access real simple and quick because:

bullet The OPC functions are provided as methods with an easy to use .NET friendly interface. The data is converted to/from .NET data types. The hand coded .Net wrapper functions are highly optimized and work in 32-bit and 64-bit operation.

bullet A test client and several sample clients are supplied in C# and VB source code.

bullet The Visual Studio integrated help contains detailed information including the OPC specifications.
Context sensitive help displays the needed information without long searches.

bullet It can be used for stand-alone OPC HDA clients or combined with OPCDA.NET and/or OPCAE.NET for OPC DA / HDA / AE client applications.

OPC HDA .NET Wrapper for OPC HDA clients

OPC HDA Test Client
LargeView

The Test Client application can be used as a diagnostic tool to see what OPC HDA servers are available and if they can be accessed.

The test client can also be used as a development helper tool. The server can be browsed to get the items supported by the server and the item names can be copied into the code of a client being developed.

All OPC HDA 1.2 functions can be called interactively to check if the values are returned as expected. This may help determine if an unexpected behavior has to searched in the client being developed or somewhere else.

To make the application test environment complete there is a Test Server included in the OPCHDA.NET package. This server is based on the evaluation version of the OPCHDA.NET Server Toolkit and is tested for OPC HDA V1.2 compliance. It can be adapted to meet the application needs. There is for each item a text file with the data. These files can easily be modified and files can be added to have additional items available. As a product evaluation this server has a 30 minute run-time restriction. For software tests this is rarely a restriction since test runs are usually shorter.
